A VSC - What is it?
| Owners of boats large and small are encouraged by the U.S. Coast Guard and local marine law enforcement officials to have a FREE Vessel Safety Check (VSC) performed on their boat each Spring or early Summer. VSCs are performed by Certified Vessel Examiners who are members of the United States Power Squadrons (USPS) or the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGAux). The vessel exam covers those mandatory items required aboard a pleasure craft plus 16 other recommended safety and/or discussion items. How can I get a safety check locally?
Pennsway Power Squadron has three Certified VSC Examiners who perform Vessel Exams in the Eastern Montgomery and Lower Bucks County area as well as near the marinas where they keep their boats. These examiners have completed the Coast Guard Vessel Safety Check examiners course, the exam and have conducted several supervised vessel exams to obtain their certification:

How can I arrange for a safety check online?
Boat owners can also make arrangements to have a free Vessel Safety Check performed on their boat by logging onto the following web site address: <http://safetyseal.net/GetVSC/>, enter the Zip Code nearest the vessel location; Start with a distance of 5 or 10 miles, and then Click on the submit button. Next, send an Email to the nearest Examiner and ask him/her to reply or call you to set up an appointment for a Vessel Safety Check.
